Ahoy!

Hi there πŸ™‚ Well I’ve finished the first week working back at the office, after working from home for 2 1/2 months, and I’m exhausted! Lol! It’s nice to be back, but dealing with people face to face again is challenging after all this time! It’s nice to have crafting as a way to relax and unwind. This card features a sweet image from The Paper Shelter, called Pretty Little Sailor, which I colored with my Copics.

I had some pieces of this nautical themed DP, and what a perfect fit with the image! I layered everything up with contrasting matting throughout and added a die cut sentiment. To finish off, I shook out my button jar, and found some buttons that went with the theme.

Winter Queen

Good morning, and happy Friday!!! I hope everyone is doing well, and able to (safely) enjoy some of the weather that seems to be prevalent in many parts of the world. I’m here to share my inspiration card for the new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by Angelique, who will send this gorgeous stamp set to the lucky winner!

For my card, I used a gorgeous image from Julia Spiri. Snow Queen is a greyscale image, something that I usually avoid, but this one was just too beautiful NOT to play with!!! I colored her with my Copics, and added a few accents with a white Posca.

I framed her with a swirly grey frame that I layered over white card stock for definition. The die cut snowflakes, mixed in with some eyelash yarn, make a pretty border. After layering everything on a tick blue CS background paper, that I’d stamped and embossed a simple sentiment on, I added a number of adhesive gems to the snowflakes, frame and crown.

Wave

Hi there πŸ™‚ I’m here to share my last inspiration this month for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme for June is “Under the Sea/Fun In the Sun/By the Sea”. There are so many gorgeous images at Ching-Chou’s Etsy store that are perfect for this!! I used Autumn Sea, from the Beautiful Tails set.

I colored her up with my Copics, then cut the image out to fit in with the wave die cuts that I layered around her. The curved Happy Birthday sentiment was the perfect fit for the opposite side. To add some glitz, i used some stickles on the waves, and also for some dots on the coordinating background paper.

Mermaid and Koi

Hi there!! The week sure flew by!! It’s time for me to share some inspiration for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme this month is “Fun In the Sun/Under the Sea/By the Sea”. For this card, I went with the Under the Sea theme, and used the beautiful Koi image, and colored her up with my Copics.

I picked the paper before coloring, and it was a real challenge to get the image to coordinate with the background without it all blending together in a vibrant mix of colors!!! The white matting of the image really made the difference! I didnt want to add too much to the card, as the colors, paper print and detailed image were enough going on!!! I die cut a border, that showed the white matting through it, then cut a sentiment. It still didnt look done, so I messed around with a number of embellishments that just didn’t work, before using the die as a stencil and making a accent on either side of the image. The simplicity of the card lets it shine….quite literally, lol. Oh, and bonus….flat for easy mailing!!!

Summertime!

Hi there! We had a few days that felt like summer (just a few, though!), so I was inspired to make a summer card for our current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by Angelique, with this cute stamp set,

so we were able to play with our stash, and use whatever we wanted for our DT inspiration πŸ™‚ Its been far too long since I’ve had a go with an All Dressed Up image, and this one, Summer Time, was perfect for the mood! I’ve been trying to pick out my papers before coloring my images, so I can coordinate colors a bit better. I colored up the image with my Copics, using the scheme from the bits of papers that I chose.

These colors are not ones I’d typically use for a summer card, but the summer/beach theme of the papers made everything work πŸ™‚ I used this sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, which happens to be the one from Kathie’s first post, 10 years ago!

I inked the edges of the pieces with the same oxide inks that I used for the sky background in the image. I muddled around with the embellishment elements of the sketch, with nothing really working, until I found some plain wooden buttons. I colored them, using the same Copic colors as I used in the image, then tied them with coordinating colors of embroidery floss. I’m really thrilled with how all the elements tie in with each other so well for the finished product!!

Gearing Up for Retirement

Hi there! I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to stay safe and healthy πŸ™‚ This card is out of the ordinary for me in a couple of ways…..no colored image, and masculine! I had to make a quick retirement card for work, the recipient being a “tinkerer”, and very mechanically inclined. I die cut a gear border, and a few single gears, from metallic card, then stamped and embossed the sentiment. I sprinkled a bit of chunky embossing powder for a bit of texture in the blank space. A mirror card mat, and the outside was done. I carried out the theme on the inside, with a sentiment, matting, and die cuts πŸ™‚

Sunshine Greeting

Hello there πŸ™‚ It’s Sunday again, and I’m here to share an inspiration card for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is β€œUNDER THE SEA OR FUN IN THE SUN OR BY THE SEA”. I incorporated two of these themes with this card….Fun in the Sun and By the Sea…with this lovely mermaid image entitled Above the Dirt. I colored her up with my Copics, giving her a background of bright rays of sunshine, and some sparkle to her outfit and her tail.

I picked some background paper to coordinate with the image, but found that she was lost while placed against it. To address this, I added a diagonal stripe of white embossed paper, matted with some gold sparkle paper. I added some die cut corner pieces and some white Card Candy to finish this sunshiny card off.

Sweet Mermaid

Hi there πŸ™‚ I’m here to share my inspiration card for the current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. This time, we are being sponsored by Angelique, who is offering this gorgeous stamp set for the lucky winner.

Since I haven’t made a mermaid card for Mer-may yet, I figured I better squeak one in!! I used the lovely Shoujo, from Lemon Shortbread stamps, for my card. I colored her with my Copics, then went to work on the rest of my project.

Since the colors I used for the image were so bright, I decided to do the main layout if the card in white and silver… and the dotted wave pattern paper was perfect. I cut some white and mirror pieces with a stitched wavy border die, then layered them up. The seaweed and coral diecuts coordinated with the ones in the image. A few Pearl’s, some die cut shells and an outline sticker sentiment finished the card off πŸ™‚ Of course, as is always the case with mirror card, the photo doesn’t do this justice.

YeeHaw!

Hi there! It’s been awhile since I’ve played with an image from Mo’s Digital Pencil. I’ve had this cutie, Howdy, for far too long, and have finally found the time to get her on a card πŸ™‚ I colored her with my Copics, keeping the colors of the papers (which I’ve also had for ages!) in mind.

The challenge at Mo’s this month is a sketch….

How fun and versatile is this?? You can use bits and pieces, and really go to town with it!! I matted and layered all the pieces, following the sketch pretty closely. After adhering the image I die cut the horseshoes and the rope and attached them. To finish off, I printed a cheerful sentiment on my computer.

Butterfly Bow

Hi there πŸ™‚ Wow, May is sure flying by….of course, for those of us working from home, time seems to have lost all meaning, and it’s hard to keep track of the time. Hopefully everyone is staying safe, sane and smart πŸ™‚ This is my last inspiration post for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is Embossing – Wet, Dry or Both. The DT was challenged to an extra theme this week, an that is to make a shaped card. It’s been a while since I’ve made a bow card, and I have a special friend’s birthday coming up, so this seemed a great time to dive in and make one of these amazing cards. I used the pattern from Sandra’s Scrapbooking that I got a few years ago….lucky I did, since the store is now closed. I used the image Fern and Butterfly, and colored it up with my Copics, then cut it out with a pretty oval die.

I set the image aside and went to work with assembling the rest of the card. In keeping with our embossing theme, I found a fern stamp and used this and clear embossing powder to dress up some plain green card stock. I used this and a subtle pink stripe paper to form the bow. I attached the image, and a stamped and embossed sentiment, then went to work with embellishing. I found some perfect color flowers in my stash and arranged them, along with die cut fern leaves, around the image and peeking out from the bow loops. I hope the recipient will love this card as much as I do….and yes….it will be hand delivered, not mailed!!!
