Summertime!

Hi there! We had a few days that felt like summer (just a few, though!), so I was inspired to make a summer card for our current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by Angelique, with this cute stamp set,

so we were able to play with our stash, and use whatever we wanted for our DT inspiration 🙂 Its been far too long since I’ve had a go with an All Dressed Up image, and this one, Summer Time, was perfect for the mood! I’ve been trying to pick out my papers before coloring my images, so I can coordinate colors a bit better. I colored up the image with my Copics, using the scheme from the bits of papers that I chose.

These colors are not ones I’d typically use for a summer card, but the summer/beach theme of the papers made everything work 🙂 I used this sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, which happens to be the one from Kathie’s first post, 10 years ago!

I inked the edges of the pieces with the same oxide inks that I used for the sky background in the image. I muddled around with the embellishment elements of the sketch, with nothing really working, until I found some plain wooden buttons. I colored them, using the same Copic colors as I used in the image, then tied them with coordinating colors of embroidery floss. I’m really thrilled with how all the elements tie in with each other so well for the finished product!!

I’d like to enter this in the following:

Yes, that was the first sketch I ever made as a DT, wow where have those 10 years gone. I love your button embellishments which work perfectly as well.
