Spring Witch

Hi there 🙂  It’s Sunday again, which means its time again for me to share some inspiration for the current Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge.  Our theme this month is “Cats and Dogs” – which is also the theme at the Challenge Blog 🙂  Ching-Chou has a lot of images that feature either a cat or a dog in her Etsy store, and it took awhile for me to choose Spring Witch for this card.  I colored her in Copics, trying a few different techniques with the skirt and hat.

I decided to make a centre step card this time, as it has been quite some time since I’ve done one.  I stuck with a springy color combo of mauve and lime green, with a few touches of silver.  The flowers were die cut with a Cheery Lynn die from a slightly darker shade of mauve CS.  Lime green came into play with the vines, from a Little B die, and the banner that served as the base for the silver Celebrate die cut.  I added some small drops of Liquid Pearls in silver to the flower centres and as sprays that extended beyond the blossoms.

Marie

Hi there!! I figured it was time for another Aurora Wings project, so I spun the {figurative} wheel and came up with this image.  Marie Nyantoinette can be found HERE at aurorawings.com , HERE as a single digi on Etsy, and in THIS coloring book 🙂  I colored her up with my Copics, trying to keep a Victorian feel with the color scheme.

After fussy cutting her out, I glued her to a die cut piece that I’d distressed with some gold stuff I found in my craft room…..I have NO idea what it is…the label was worn off….thus…it’s “stuff”.  I found a piece of Graphic 45 paper from the Renaissance Faire collection that was perfect for this project, and distressed and inked the edges.  Since the era was known for it’s ornate-ness, I had a bit of fun with embellishments.  I tried a few different laces before settling on the ivory one I used to wrap 2 of the corners.  I dove into my flower stash and found some blooms that complimented the colors, as well as the flowers in the image.  I added some die cut leaves and feathers to finish the arrangement.  Some gold pearls provided the finishing touch for my card 🙂

Worm Wishes

Hi there! Well, this post is a bit late, as I’ve been hit with a terrible spring cold, and every time I’m vertical for any amount of time, my nose runs unbelievably and my head throbs 🙁  But – it’s spring!!! 🙂  We have a new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge Blog, with the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps sponsoring us this time 🙂  I used the worm and one of the sentiments from the Under the Sea set for my card.  I colored the image with my Copics, then placed it under 2 pieces of turquoise CS that I’d die cut with ‘bubbles’ and one which had the sentiment printed on it.  I wanted to keep it CAS, so just added a thin black mat and some clear Nuvo drops of ‘water’ to finish this off.

My Sunshine

Hello 🙂  Time for some inspiration from me for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group challenge.  This month, our theme is “Cats or Dogs”.  Ching-Chou has a lot of images that feature one of these animals in her store, so check them out 🙂  The blog challenge theme is the same, so make sure to get an entry in and double your chances of winning some gorgeous images 🙂  I used My Little Sunshine for my card, and colored it up with my Copics, then die/fussy cut it out.

I chose 2 doggie prints from a pet themed paper pad from Die Cuts With a View for the background.  A wavy sentiment stamp was a perfect divider between the 2 prints.  I die cut the paw/heart (by Alina Crafts) from 2 contrasting colors and added it, along with some sunflowers from my stash, to the card.  A bit of bling in the one corner provided a bit of balance, as well as a little sparkle to the card 🙂

Birthday Sprite

Hi there!  I finally got this little cutie colored up.  This is a Sprite, from the marvelous Mitzi of Aurora Wings <3  It’s a special Sprite, too, as it was a good-bye gift with the closing of the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog (everything else remains!!!)  Once the blog is closed, watch for this Sprite to become available at both the Etsy store, and the digi shop.  I colored her up with my Copics, and I must have been zoning out, because on TWO occasions, I grabbed a marker from the totally wrong color family, and didn’t look before laying down color….needless to say, this little one turned out quite a bit different than planned, LOL.

I thought that the background paper, with it’s icing and sprinkles, was perfect for this image.  The little swag and candles were cut with some dies from a Little B set that I forgot I had.  I added some Glossy accents to the flames, and some pink bling to the swag, and figured that was enough on this card.  I let the image shine 🙂

Daisy Delight

Hi there!  My last blog post for the weekend…..and I’m caught up for a bit, lol.  Sunday is my day to share some inspiration for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group challenge.  This month, our theme is Spring/Easter (same as the blog theme FYI).  The DT was also challenged this week to add some flowers.  So here’s my card 🙂  I used the gorgeous image, Field of Daisies, and colored it with Copics (with the polka dots on the dress done in white and silver gel pens) before using a pretty, lacy rectangle die to cut it out.

I’m really into the blue/white/yellow color combo this spring, and this card was another chance to use it 🙂  The background paper was a pretty print, that was subtle enough to really compliment both the image and the row of daisies and bow that anchored the image.

Some die cut leaves, blue butterflies and matting in the same color finished this happy spring card off 🙂

Smile….It’s Your Birthday!

Hi 🙂  It’s been so long since I’ve had a play with an All Dressed Up image, I figured it was high time to do just that!!  I have a few photographer friends, so ‘Smile, It’s Your Birthday‘ is a perfect image to make a card for one of them 🙂  I colored her up with my Copics, and added some doodles around the edges.

I had picked up a paper pad a while back with some funky prints in it, and the camera print was perfect  here.  I balanced the bold camera print with a more subtle foiled star and some blue CS that I dotted myself with gel pens.  I die cut the film strip from a piece of gold mirror paper to match the shine of the foil stars.  Initially, I had darker pink flowers on this, but it was too over powering, so I tore them off and put the pale pink blooms in place.  I got a super good deal on a collection of wooden cut outs a while back, and one of the shapes was a camera.  I colored it black, and attached it to a piece of wire, so it “floated” above the blooms.

A few shiny gold stars on the blue piece balanced everything out and finished the card off 🙂

Forget Me Knot

Good morning 🙂  We have a new challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group.  All of our challenges are ATG, but there’s also an optional theme if you need a bit of a push with the inspiration 🙂  This month, the optional theme is Layers.  What a great way to use up some of the smaller pieces of paper that you may have laying around!  I used the gorgeous image Forget Me Knot #175 for my card.  These little blossoms have a special place in my heart, because they were the pattern on my mom’s fine china….I thought of many “fancy” meals while making this card <3  I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.

I actually picked out the paper pieces BEFORE coloring this time – something I hardly ever do (then struggle to find stuff to match! LOL).  I’m really getting into the blue/yellow/white color combo lately, as it’s so fresh and happy.  I added some white gel pen stitches on the one piece to reflect the stitching in the die. For an extra something in the corners, I used an old corner punch of mine.  I die cut the sentiment and added a few white dots with Nuvo drops, and this card was done!!! I hope you can join us in our FB group challenge!!

Steamin’ Friendship

I’m trying to catch up with my blogging after a few curve balls that life has thrown at me lately!  I made this card for a swap, and decided to use one of my many KennyK stamps.  I purchased a whole whack of images when Kenny’s store closed down, and haven’t used even a fraction of them!! I haven’t done a steampunk theme project for ages, so Inspector Em was the perfect image to change that!!  I colored her with Copics, adding some accents and highlights with gold and white gel pens.

After fussy cutting the image out I popped it on some striped paper that I’d distressed and inked.  I layered pieces of damask patterned paper (from the same collection as the stripes), and some subtle printed purple, that I’d embossed with a gear theme Sizzix embossing folder.  I die cut a number of gears with some Echo Park dies and arranged them around the image.  A strip of black lace, topped with a chain die cut (Elizabeth Craft) added a bit more texture and interest.

The sentiment is a ….. RUB ON….. !!!!!!! And it actually rubbed on, after sitting in a folder for how many years!!!

Easter Chicks

Hi there!! I’m here to share my DT card for the new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge.  We are being sponsored by the generous Morgan’s Artworld this time around 🙂  I used Chicken With Hatching Chicken for my card.  These little fluffs remind me of when I was little and we got new baby chicks in the spring…..it was so super exciting, I just loved holding them and feeling their softness on my cheek <3  I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out to fit the pretty die cut mat.

I cut the edge of the pretty spring green gingham print paper with a pretty curved scallop die.  After stamping the Easter sentiment with a stamp from a free set I got with a magazine, I started digging for embellishments.  I found the purple blooms, which I layered up and finished off with a Fimo centre that I made.  The pink blossoms were die cut and I added a blob of yellow 3D paint for the centres.  A few green leaf sprays and some purple matting finished the card off 🙂

I hope you can join us at Creative Fingers with whatever you’ve created!!
