Snowflake Angel

Hi there 🙂  It’s already Sunday, and time for my third inspiration piece for the current challenge at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group.  This month, our theme is Christmas…..as it’s getting very close, and hopefully your stacks of Christmas cards are getting bigger 🙂  I used the gorgeous image Northern Blessings, found in the Etsy store. After coloring her up in some non-traditional colors, I added white gel pen, and sparkle accents to her jewelry, wings and the snowflake.

I fussycut/die cut her out, and set it aside while I distressed the edges of the PERFECT print paper, and some Coredination paper.  I layered everything up, tucking some die cut snowflakes, that I enhanced with glitter, to peek out from under the printed layer.  I die cut the sentiment from gold glitter paper, then added a sparkly bow to balance the card out.

I would love to enter the following with this card:

Christmas Mermaid

Hi there!!! Wow, it’s been a crazy week. Even the crazy weeks have their high points, and one of mine was this image!!! I had made a suggestion to Mitzi a while back for a Christmas Mermaid. This stunner was the result!!!!! Wow!!!   She is a gift with purchase for this weekend, when you spend a minimum of $7 at either the Aurora Wings store, or the Aurora Wings Etsy store.

Image may contain: 1 person, text

I colored her a few days ago, but it wasn’t until today that I had the opportunity to make her into a card (refer back to crazy week).  I colored her with my Copics, adding some accents with white gel pen and a clear sparkle gel pen.

A close up of some of the sparkle.

I kept the design simple, sticking with papers in traditional Christmas colors, and adding a stamped sentiment, some touches with die cut foil paper, and some green gems. This is a short and sweet post today…..be sure to grab this sweetie as a gift while you can!!!!

Holly Angel

Hello 🙂  It’s already the second Sunday of November, where does that time go?? As it’s Sunday, it’s my turn for an inspiration post for the current Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge.  Our theme is Christmas, and there are some absolutely gorgeous Christmas images available in Ching-Chou’s Etsy store.  I used Holly Angel for today’s card.  I colored her up with my Copic markers…..then got totally lost as to what to do!!!

I kept coming back to this little miss for almost a week, and every time I went to create something, all my ideas took flight!!! It’s like I’ve never made a card before in my life!!! With time running out, I had to do something!! I die cut a frame for her to be leaning out of, and was lucky enough to have a piece of holly print paper, that was perfect for the background! After stamping a sentiment, the card still needed something.  I like to keep most of my Christmas cards flat, as a great majority of them are mailed.  The handy old white gel pen came to the rescue for finishing this card.  I drew in a border of stitching, doubling up in the one corner for balance.  This card is nice and flat for easy mailing with it’s CAS design 🙂

Twins!

Hi there!! One last card for me today.  I got an order on the weekend for a baby card….for twins.  The expectant parents had opted NOT to find out the genders before the births, so it had to be a gender neutral card.  And – of course I had NOTHING in my collection that fit the bill for the quickie order.  My coloring mojo just wasn’t there, and since I didn’t have time to wait for it to reappear, I had to go scrounging through some of my other crafting supplies.  Nothing was really speaking to me until I came across a sheet of Winnie the Pooh print paper that I’ve been hoarding for at least 10 years.  No matter, because Winnie is timeless, and genderless, and epitomizes childhood 🙂  I cut out a piece of the sheet, which is printed with blocks of the Pooh character’s faces.  I matted it with white, then die cut the word TWINS, and some baby themed icons.  I arranged everything on a pretty yellow background that I’d edged with white dots made with a gel pen.  I finished the card with a piece of the same printed paper and a computer generated sentiment on the inside 🙂

Thanksgiving Dahlia

Hello 🙂  I don’t make a lot (ok, usually none) of Thanksgiving cards, but since I was invited over to my friends for Thanksgiving this year, I had to take a card. This Dahlia digital stamp from Power Poppy caught my eye from the first time I saw it!  I printed it off in the no-lines version and colored it in with my Copics.  I had the burlap “paper” for some time, and since I wanted this card to be fairly rustic and natural, I figured that this was the card to use it on.  I layered a die cut piece of kraft CS, with a stamped and embossed sentiment and matted with black over the burlap.  After fussy cutting the dahlia, I popped it off to the side of the card with some foam tape.  I added a sprinkling of coordianating sequins to finish this card off 🙂

Lovely Little Unicorn

Good morning!!! I’ve decided to take a few days off work….I had some vacation days owed to me, and it snowed here this week…..so I figured I’d avoid all the drivers that forget, every year, how to maneuver on the white stuff :/  I bought this adorable image from Lee Holland some time ago, and finally got around to coloring the little cutie up with my Copics.  The soft rainbow colors seemed to go so well with the sweet image.

I framed the unicorn with a scalloped die cut, then set it aside, while I assembled the rest of the card, using some coordinating papers that I got as a free gift in a magazine.  I cut the top part with a curved and scalloped die, and layered it with some pink that was cut with the same die to mat the background.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed, then cut with a banner die.  I used a pink flower from my stash, then I actually put some of the flower building dies, that I’ve purchased recently, to work, and made the yellow blossoms.  Some die cut leaves, a pearl swirl and some adhesive pearls finish this card off 🙂

The Nutcracker

Hi there 🙂  I can’t believe that it’s November, and Christmas is very quickly approaching!! It’s also time for the mid-challenge reminder at Aurora Wings Challenge Blog.  We have a fun theme this time

Image may contain: cloud, sky, text, outdoor and nature

It really makes for endless possibilities, depending on your mood and preferences!  I was really leaning towards a Nightmare, but when Halloween passed, and me being Ms. Last Minute, I slipped into more of a dreamy mood for my project 🙂

I chose to go with a Christmas decor item, inspired by The Nutcracker, and featuring Mitzi’s lovely Clara, found here on aurorawings.com and here in the Etsy store, and The Nutcracker, found exclusively in the aurorawings.com store.  I colored 2 of each image, making the Clara colorings mirror image, then fussy cut them out.  This was fun, as I was back to my old trick of printing images soooo tiny, but I got it all done without cutting any extremities off 🙂  I glued the Claras back to back, sandwiching some string between the two pieces, so they could spin, then set this aside.

I die cut the “window” that Clara is suspended from, twice from a brushed silver paper, and once from cardboard, to give it stability.  I built the circular base from cardboard, then covered it with the same brushed silver paper.  The window was assembled, with Clara, then inserted into a notch that I’d cut in the base. I used some sparkly eyelash yarn in a pretty blue to glue around the edges of the base and window, then die cut some corner pieces from a blue CS.  I found some sparkly tulle, and gathered and glued it to the base, adding a white ribbon to finish it.  The sentiment, a quote from the Nutcracker, was computer generated, then die cut with a blue frame to match the top corner pieces.

I added some rhinestones and a white bow, before affixing the Nutcrackers on either side of the window….as guards 🙂

Here is another picture of my project, from a different angle. 🙂

Christmas Lilies

Hi there 🙂  It’s been quite a while since I posted a Christmas project, but since the new challenge at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group has Christmas as a theme, I had to put my Scrooge-i-ness aside, lol.  Seeing as how it’s November, this is just the kick that I needed!  I used the beautiful Lily In Christmas, from the Etsy store, for my card.  I colored her up with Copics, then cut her out with a pretty oval die.

I had some very definite ideas for this card, that all flew out the window, once I began!! It all started to evolve when I embossed the background and inked the edges with some Distress Ink.  The logical next step was to ink the edges of the image cut out…..  I played around with some embellishments, before deciding to stick with the white/inked edge look. I die cut some holly with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die, and used a banner die to cut the sentiment out.  I love the delicate look that the embossing/inking and die cuts give this card!!

Water Lily

Hello!! I’m a bit late in posting this, it’s been one of “those” weeks!! A new challenge started at Creative Fingers yesterday….as always, it’s ATG.  Our lovely Angelique is sponsoring this time, with a lovely border die as a prize!

For my card, I used a beautiful image by Christine Karron.  The line art version of Water Lily Fairy can be found here, as well as part of a pack, here.  As with almost all of Christine’s art, this is also available in greyscale 🙂  I colored this lovely up with my Copics, adding some finishing details with my Prismacolor pencils and a gold gel pen.

I messed around looking for papers, trying to find some that complimented the image without overpowering it.  I found the yellow and dark green prints in my scraps, and matted them with a pink that matched up with the tips of the water lilies in the image.  For embellishments, I didn’t want anything too overpowering, but the card needed a little something.  Some gold outline vine stickers, a sprinkling of gold UTEE, and a gold sentiment sticker all fit the bill 🙂  Here’s another angle of the card

Fairy Friends

Hi!! I’m completely stepping back from Fall/Halloween/DT projects to share the card that I made for my bestie’s birthday 🙂  She likes dragons and fairies and purple, so this image, by Ronne Barton, colored with my Copics, was a great fit for her.

I used various pieces of paper from a paper pad…..I was thrilled at how well the colors matched up, because I never think of planning that far ahead to match!! I layered everything up, matting with plain black CS.  I had received a box of beautiful Petal Lu flowers from the same bestie for my birthday, and used a few of these beauties as an embellishment, along with a pretty teal bow 🙂

The birthday was a success, and now it’s back to the regular cardmaking schedule for a bit 🙂
