Your Day

Hi there 🙂 I’m here to share my inspiration card for the new challenge at Creative Fingers. Angelique is sponsoring again, with this fabulous stamp set for the lucky random winner:

I’ve been trying to increase my stash of masculine cards, so I used a cute stamp from Polkadoodles for my card. I cropped Malkolm, from the Little Monsters collection, so only part of his face was featured on the card. The sentiment was placed and printed at the same time as the image. I colored him up with Copics, coordinating the colors with the piece of printed paper I’d chosen to use.

I added some black mats to both the image panel and the striped frame to make everything really stand out. A couple scattered enamel dots finish of my fun card 🙂

Retirement Huts

Hi there 🙂 I’m sharing a CAS retirement card today. I used the image Beach Hut Holiday, from Sheepski Designs. I thought this scene was perfect for someone retiring…as I can imagine (dream of) just sitting in that chair, with not a care in the world!! But a situation like that is a ways a way for me, so I can continue dreaming….and crafting!!! I colored the image with my Copics, added some inked clouds with Distress Ink, then stamped and embossed a sentiment on it. The specific retirement message is on the inside. I found some paper that had colors that coordinated with many of those in the image, and used it as one of the mats.

Sunshine Friends

Hi there 🙂 As I post this sunshine-y card, I’m listening to the rain fall – finally!! It has been such a dry spring, with fire bans, and very worried farmers!! This rain is so welcomed, and I can hardly wait to see how fresh and vibrant everything looks when the sun comes out again! This card my last inspiration card for the month of May for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our them this month is Magical World, but the DT was given an extra challenge this week – to use orange or yellow or both. I combined the 2 themes with this pretty mermaid. I colored Flow Followers up with my Copics, then cut it out with a stitched die.

I dug around in my paper stash, trying to find as many coordinating oranges and yellows as I could. After cutting a hexagon shape out from a warm yellow piece, I glued down the image. This was placed on an orange background. I went through my scrap bin, and die cut a bunch of seaweed and coral pieces, then adhered them to the card to form a border on the edge. A few fish were also cut, so they could swim around the image. To finish, I arranged a bunch of pearls across the bottom 🙂

Starry Skies

Hello there 🙂 Today, I have my second inspiration project for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is mythical creatures – such as fairies, unicorns, mermaids etc. The DT was also given an extra challenge, and that was to make a shaped card. I used Crimson Moon to make my shaped easel card, and colored it up with my Copics, before fussy cutting it out.

I embossed a piece of Black Magic card stock, then sanded it to add emphasis to the pattern. I then matted it with plain black, before attaching the image, and adhering it to the yellow base. For the bottom, I just used a piece of plain black, then popped on banner strip with a stamped sentiment. For embellishments, I used a ribbon flower, die cut greenery, and a sprinkling of tiny rhinestones amongst the stars, and on the base.

Pretty Pink Peony

Hi there 🙂 At my old house, I had the most monstrous peony plants I’ve ever seen…they were one of the first flowers to bloom (other than dandelions, lol), weeks before anyone else even had buds on their peony plants. I thought of them when I saw this lovely Peony in Jar image from Conie Fong. I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out with a pierced edge circle die.

I wanted to keep my card design relatively simple, so the image could really take centre stage. I found a piece of pink card stock in the same shade as the flowers, then edged it with a pretty die cut border. I found some greenish grey print paper to tuck at the top and bottom. A quick mat with some green/grey paper, and a few coordinating rhinestones finish this off. I left it without a sentiment, so I can add a personal message on the inside for whatever occasion that may call for a card like this.

Forever Remembered

Hi there 🙂 I hope that all the mom’s out there had a day that was as special as they are!! Hopefully, it will be the last one that we all can’t be with the ones that made us moms! I was going through my card collection, and saw that I was short of sympathy cards….probably because they are some of the hardest ever to make!!! This gorgeous corner digi, from Graciellie Designs, was perfect for a simple, yet beautiful way to tell someone they are thought of. I colored Life Happens with my Copics, then added a stamped and heat embossed sentiment. A simple black mat, and a few sequins finish this understated card off, while leaving the image and sentiment in sharp focus.

Gift Card Glory

Well, April just slipped right by without me noticing!!! So many things going on in my life, that I don’t realize time passing!! We have another day left to get your old or new coloring or project into the challenge folder at Aurora Wings Facebook page. I couldn’t believe that I’d never worked with this beautiful image before!! I colored Poppy Elf up in some bright, springy colors, with my Copics.

I’ve found myself overloaded with cards lately, so have been trying different ways to use my colored images. Gift cards are a popular present, and I like to present them in a special way. The bottom border of poppies gave me the idea for this project’s design. I colored up a second batch of poppies and fussy cut it out. After folding and matting the paper, I attached these to make a pocket for a gift card. The middle panel is stamped with a sentiment, and leaves plenty of room for a personal greeting.

Dalmatian Cuddle

Well, it’s finally starting to feel and look like spring here (this week, anyway!), so I decided to make a Christmas card for the current Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge, lol. Our theme is Four Legged Friends, and I used the darling Dalmation Cuddle image for my card. I colored her up with my Copics.

I found some dot print paper in my stash, that coordinated nicely with the image’s color palette. I cut the bottom into a slight curve with an edger die. After adding mats to the image and background, I die cut a Christmas sentiment and added a couple gems as a finishing touch.

A Magical Birthday

Hi there 🙂 It was recently my son’s birthday, so I had to make a special card for him. I turned to one of my all time favorite digital stamps, Wiz, from Mo’s Digital Pencil, to get the job done. This is one of my first digi stamps, and just the most fun to color up and create with!! I used Copics to bring him to life before matting the image with black CS.

I chose a few coordinating printed papers to lay everything out, adding some scalloped borders for a bit of extra interest. The sentiment comes with Wiz, and is just perfect on a fishtail banner die cut. To add a pop of color, that matches with the energy coming from the ball in the image, I die cut some star clusters, and tucked them around the image. An added bonus with this card is that it is flat, and super easy to mail!

Fantasy Trinket Box

Hi there, happy Sunday 🙂 It’s time for me to share my second inspiration project for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge, with the theme of Four Legged Friends. I used one of the darling images from this set, called Forest Companion. I decided to do another “anything but a card” project. I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out and matted it with some circle dies that fit the top of the trinket box that I had painted white. I die cut a number of mushrooms in bright colors, and glued them, and some grass, around the bottom part of the box.

To finish the inside of the box, I used some mushroom print paper, in the same colors that I used for the rest of the elements. All ready to tuck a small gift into for someone special!!
