With Love

Hi there 🙂 I’m here for my Sunday inspiration for the current challenge at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group. This month, the challenge them is Make Your Own Background, however, the DT was challenged this week to make a Distressed/Shabby Chic card. After a bit of thinking, I managed to fit both themes on this card. I colored the beautiful Hold a Poppy image, from Ching-Chou’s Etsy store, with my Copics, then fussy cut it out while I went to work on the rest of the card. For the background, I shaved off some watercolor paint from a child’s paint palette, then spritzed it with water. When it was dry, I stamped around the edges with some old Stampin’ Up stamps that I found in my stash. Then I sprinked some gold embossing powder on the piece and heated it up. I tore one corner off, so the piece that I embossed and inked with a Tim Holtz embossing folder could peek out. Before layering the two pieces, I distressed the un-torn edges of the top piece, then inked all around it. I found a piece of ivory lace to run along the bottom, then arranged some flowers (I ran a Copic that I’d used in the image along the edges of the pink ones, to make a better match) and die cut greenery. I tucked a German foil bee in to the arrangements to add a bit more gold. The sentiment was stamped and die cut into a small tag shape, then attached to the card with a tiny clothespin that I painted gold.

I’m loving the femininity of this project, and it was such fun getting all inky 🙂
