Bundled In Blue

Hi there 🙂  I’ve made a card using the Diamond fold today.  I had the template in a file with assorted patterns, and figured it was time to make a card with it….since it’s been a few years since I’ve done one like this!!  I used this cute image, from Lemon Shortbread, as the focal point of this project.  I colored her up with my Prismacolor pencils, then cut her out with an oval nesting die.  I matted the image in the same dark blue CS that I formed the card base from.  I found a pretty DP with blue snow swirls on it, and cut 2 lacy squares out.  One I used as a background for the girl, the other, I trimmed and glued to the base.  I had a few silver poinsettias left from a while back, and some silver and white snowflake embellishments that I picked up on clearance after Christmas.  I tied a floofy (?) bow, and put one of the poinsettias in the center, then arranged the rest of the embellishments around the image and on the base.  Finally, I put a small dab of white liquid pearl in the centers of the white snowflakes, to give them just a little “extra”.

Fairy Stitches

Hello 🙂  I think this card just blasted me out of my little trend of CAS!! Lol!!  I’ve had this image for a few years, it’s by Cootsy Creations, and was available in the Stichy Bear shop, which is closed now, sadly.  I colored this sweet little fairy up with my SN and Copic markers.

I knew just the papers I was going to use for her – I purchased a bunch of sewing themed DPs at a Dollar store (!!!!) while on a girls’ weekend at the spa this summer.  These papers are double sided, and a lovely weight, which make it an extra value.  Once I started layering, you can’t see that the base layer actually has some sparkle on some of the odd spools.  Anyhow, I used both sides of one of the sheets here, and took my sewing machine (which has an issue with tension), and stitched around them.  I recently got this old fashioned sewing machine die from AliExpress, on an impulse, and was wondering where I’d ever use it……lol, wouldn’t ya know…..perfect with this 🙂  Since I was on a real roll, using some of the neglected sewing themed stash I have, I kept digging, and found the tape measure ribbon.  Of course I had to sew a few buttons in the bow centre!! The one corner of the image seemed naked and begging for “something” – so I poked a few dressmaker pins through…..keeping with the theme, ya know?  The sentiment is computer generated, and cut with a fishtail banner die which I think is from Elizabeth Craft (but I’m not 100% sure, because I’m old, lol).

Sunshine

Good morning 🙂  Somehow, I managed to go all autumn on this card.  It must have been the bouquet of sunflowers that the lovely Anna, from Sweet Escape Digis is holding 🙂  I colored her with my Copics, then fussy cut her out.  I mounted her on some die cuts, the top one from plain brown CS, the green one peeking through is cut from the opposite side of the big sunflower background paper.  I used the same papers for the strip running across the card, which I tied with a piece of orange twine.  The get well card supply was getting a bit low, so I used this sentiment, stamped and embossed in gold…..and perfect for this card, with the reference to sunshine 🙂  I added some Liquid Pearl in the corner and on a heart that I attached to the middle of the bow 🙂

Love Grows

Hi there!! I seem to be angling towards a more CAS style for my cards lately….but trust me, that will change, as I tend to be “all over the board” with my cardmaking style!!  This card is a sweet little Valentines card, made with the current freebie image from Limited Runs Stamps.  I colored it with my Prismacolors, and added some shine to the hearts with some white gel pen.  I blocked off the image, mounting it, and another piece of white CS on some subtle print DP.  I left room between the 2 pieces to put the die cut sentiment (Tim Holtz Sizzix die).  For a bit of sparkle, I added some sequins.  I tried a few different colors for the sequins, and nothing looked quite right until I tried these peach-y ones!!! Bingo!  And way better than trying to match up shades of red!!!

Baby Ellie

Good morning 🙂  I had some vacation time left over from last year, so decided that it was a great time, with it being sooo cold here, to take a 4 day weekend.  Lot’s of time to play!!  My stack of colored images was getting a bit high, so I figured it was time to get some of them onto cards!!! I always seem to get orders for baby cards…you know, “I need it RIGHT AWAY”   It’s not like people are expecting their child for months beforehand, and in most cases, even know the gender of the baby!!  So, I decided I better get my stock of baby cards built up again, particularly the girly ones.  I saw this image at Whimsy Stamps, and just had to have it!!!  Baby Ellie is just beyond cute, and so perfect for a new baby card!  She is colored with my Prismacolor pencils, then cut out with a die from Xyron (I think).  I found the piece of pink polka dot paper, but in my thousands and thousands of sheets, I just couldn’t find a paper that went well with the dots and the image.  So, I made my own, on my computer 😀  I followed this sketch, from Tuesday Morning Sketches, for the layout.

I added a border of liquid pearls to the polka dot part, to give it some extra definition, then added a few dots to the edge of the image and to the corners for a bit of an accent 🙂

Ombre Chill

I stepped waaaay out of my comfort zone with this card.  No colored image, no layers….just super CAS and I looooove it!!  I die cut the beautiful deer head out of a piece of paper that I had inked with my oxide inks to give an ombre effect.  After gluing it to a card base, I stamped a sentiment with the same oxide ink.  A bit of a smattering of tiny rhinestones were all this card needed to make a cool and elegant Christmas card for this year 🙂

Winter Wolves

I’m blogging up a storm here….I’ve found a bit of a “system” that seems to be working for me, where I do most of my coloring in the mornings, and at work, assembling in the mornings a bit, and at the beginning of weekends, then go like mad with posting stuff until I’m back at work on Monday again. 🙂  This card features the stunning image Lycaonia, from Teri Sherman, at Delicious Doodles.  I colored it up with my Prismacolor pencils, having a lot of fun with all the elements, from the fur to the fabric, to the northern winter sky background 🙂  I stamped some trees, to define the horizon in the background, with stamps from a set I’d purchased…..and forgot about!  A friend challenged me to use DP (she thinks I have too much, lol….probably do!), on every card I make this year….easier said than done when its a very CAS design!! I dug deep to find this piece of blue dotted paper, which I partially cut with a curved edge die, then tucked the image into the cut, to form a frame for the image and a bottom border (hope that made sense…it’s 5:30am here, and I’m not done my first cup of coffee!)  I die cut Hugs, affixed it, and called this card done 🙂

Happy Bug Tag

Good morning 🙂  A friend of mine was shocked when I actually made a tag, as I’m not really known to make them much.  I love them, I just don’t know what to do with them!!!  I did this one featuring the cutest little bug ever, from Createful Hearts Digis.  I colored Dragonfly Hi with my Copics, then cut the image out with a stiched die.  Here’s a close up of him:

I cut the tag base from some cute leaf print paper, then started fishing around in my dies to see what I could find.  The branch and the cloud dies fit the bill, and so did my new word dies…which “smile” seemed the most appropriate 🙂  I used a scrap of bright green ribbon for the tie, but was still unhappy with the overall look….  I cut a green and a white fringe and layered them at the bottom with another strip of the ribbon (I actually officially finished up a whole roll of ribbon here!!!  I have so much, and save the scraps, then forget about them, so I never actually use the last bit!!)  Of course, I had to cut the “smile” again, as it was glued down before I got the brainwave, lol.

A Bloomin’ Great Birthday!!

Good morning 🙂  It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a card with a quirky character from Bloobel, that I thought that I should get on it 🙂  I used Bekkah Bloom for this card.  I colored her up with my Copic and SN markers, then cut her out with a die that had a thin frame on it.  I just got some flower dies, so I used them to make the flowers for this card…pretty happy with them, but like anything, it needs a bit more practice 🙂  Another die was used for the greenery.  I messed around with papers and other touches for a long time, but finally settled on using some fiber “pineapple” paper (that’s the name, and it’s pretty cool stuff!) behind the image, and I layered numerous pieces of papers I received a few years back with a magazine.  I distressed these before adhereing them.  The card still needed something….and believe me, I looked through A LOT of embellishments, dies, etc. before settling on using the scribbles from a Tim Holtz Sizzix die set.  I cut the die cuts in half and tucked them around the edeges.  Some purple pearls were added at the very end.  I was bloomin’ happy with how it turned out!! (sorry, couldn’t resist). 🙂

Pink Chic

Hi there 🙂  I was in a CAS mood when I made this card, using Vintage Dog Walk, from A Day For Daisies. I colored this lady and her pooch with my Copics, then added a bit of sparkle to the dress with some glitter gel pen.  I saw this sketch over at Feeling Sketchy, and decided to flip it for the layout of this card.

I cut the sentiment with a die from , and managed to find some deep pink CS that matched the dress to perfection.  I played around with a few small embellishments, but decided to leave them off, as they took away from the over all look of the card, rather than enhancing it!!
