Harlequin

Hi there 🙂 I was honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer for the Addicted to Stamps Challenge this month 🙂 The theme is Flowers, which should end up being a very popular one!!! I love flowers, both in my images and as embellishments, although I do tend to purchase and hoard my pretties more than I should!!! For my card, I used an image by my favorite, Mitzi, of Aurora Wings. Harlequinade can be found in the Etsy store HERE, as well as HERE in the Digi Shop. After coloring the image with my Copics, I tore around the edges and inked them with Distress Ink. I added Liquid Pearls to the image in a few different sittings, so the blobs didn’t run into each other – too much, lol.

I used both a Tim Holtz harlequin die and stencil for the background. I inked the stencil with the same color ink that I used to edge the image and then layered everything over a charcoal mat. I dug into my flower stash and found some yellow roses and a pretty orange blossom (from Petal Lu), that I arranged with some die cut greenery and some swirls of pearls. A few pearls in two of the corners finish the card off 🙂

I’m thinking that this will be a great card for one of my sisters’ birthdays, which is coming up soon….as she loves yellow roses 🙂

Ocean Friends

Well, I’m slowly getting my cards finished and blogging done, after a second bout with spring colds and allergies!! I think I’ve had more than my share of “ick”, and now it’s time to get down to business and let the summer fun begin 🙂 When I saw that Tiddly Inks was having a showcase challenge with these adorable mermaid friends, I just HAD to participate 🙂 Christy made this image, from the Little Valentines Mermaid Set available as a freebie for the duration of the challenge…. because I’ve been sick, I’m cutting it close with the deadline, but you can see if it’s still available HERE. I colored the little friends up with my Copics, then fussy cut them out and set them aside while I assembled the rest of the card.

I had picked out the background paper before coloring, as it reminded me of swirls of ocean currents. I really wanted to use some of my new dies….designs by Hero Arts, Avery Elle, and Elizabeth Craft….. With a busy background print and the cute image, I decided to keep it simple with the die cuts and do them all in white. I grabbed the image and glued it on a blue oval that was the same size as the frame. I popped up the frame a bit, added some curvy pieces at the bottom, then arranged the coral and seaweed around this. I stamped a simple sentiment on a fishtail banner, and bent it to fit over and around the frame and image.

I had a lot of fun with this card, and am super pleased with the end result 🙂

Baby Love

Hi there 🙂 Time is certainly flying lately….or again….or still!!! Today marks the start of another ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge Blog. The Design Team had a lot of fun creating inspiration pieces featuring some of the amazing images provided by our sponsor Milk Coffee Digital Stamps. I was given Soya and Love Fruit, and decided to make a baby congratulations card with her. I colored the image with my Copics, sticking to very soft pastel shades (so hard for me!!!).

I cut it out with a circle die, then matted it with a lacy yellow circle die cut. I used paper pieces from a paper pack that was a complimentary gift from a magazine years ago. The soft patterns and colors lent themselves perfectly to the theme of the card. I layered the various prints up, after cutting some fishtail banners out of 2 of the prints. I die cut the sentiment twice with a Tattered Lace die, and layered them to give some dimension. After tying a pretty white bow (!!!!!!!), I placed a Petal Lu blossom and some yellow curlies in the centre. To balance everything out, I colored a couple pearls to match the yellows used in the card, and affixed them to the corner.

Just Married

Hi there 🙂 I’m finally getting caught up on my blogging, now that I have the changes on here figured out and almost mastered – HA!!! This card is my inspiration for the current challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group challenge. All of our challenges are ATG, but there’s always an optional theme thrown in to help you on your way, if needed. This month, the option is Celebrations. Since some of the weddings that I’ve attended have been the most rip-roaring celebrations ever, I decided to make a wedding card. I chose the image “Daisy“, and colored it with Copics. I used both a stitched rectangle and stitched cloud die to cut the image out. About a year ago, I found a really nice paper pad at the dollar store, and used some of the prints from that pad on here. Anyone that knows me, knows that my very least favorite color is peach….but that was the perfect accent color for this project, so I went with it for matting and the die cuts. I added pearl strips to the corners and center strip to finish the card off.

Boston Birthday

Well, I’m slowly getting these updates figured out, lol. Nothing like technology to make a person feel old!! This is my last inspiration project for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group challenge. Our theme is Cats or Dogs (same theme is on the challenge blog). There are a ton of adorable images featuring these critters in the shop. I used Boston Terrier, and was really thinking of my niece and her family when I made this – as they have an adorable Boston named Frank 🙂 I actually chose the papers before coloring this image with my Copic markers…..something that I really should do more often, as it saves a ton of rummaging and frustration!!! I added a bit of glitter, then fussy cut her out.

I die cut a frame, and a blue piece in the same shape as the frame, which I turned 90 degrees. I ran a pretty green ribbon through, then tied the bow, which I applied a cluster of beautiful Petal Lu flowers in the center of. A die cut banner was the home for the stamped part of the sentiment. The black die cut word that overlaps and finishes the sentiment also finished off the card 🙂

Fun!

Hi there!! If things look different on my blog post, it’s because a bunch of “upgrades” were done on WordPress, and I haven’t figured them out yet!!!! I made this card featuring a new to me artist named Myka Jelina. This is one of her adorable Minikin characters, Layla. I colored her with Copics, then added some glittery accents with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I cut the image out with a stitched rounded rectangle die, that I extended to accommodate the full image. I cut and layered the papers that I’d chosen before I started to color according to a sketch I saw somewhere…but for the life of me, I can’t find it now!!! I added some stars and sequins, then had another go at the sparkle, so it matched better with the sparkly parts in the balloon paper. A fishtail banner die cut, with a diecut and hand written sentiment finished this off 🙂

Hello

Hi there 🙂  I had so much fun doing up this card featuring these cuties from Sasayaki Glitter.  This is the image for the current progressive challenge on the Sasayaki Glitter FB group, but is also available as part of a set here.  I colored them up using my Copics, then cut the image out with a pretty oval die.

When I went through my papers, I was lucky enough to find some that matched the color combo perfectly.  The layout is based on the fabulous sketch at Cheerful Sketches challenge.

A “hello” sentiment die cut and some punched flowers finished this card off.

Spring Fever

Hi there 🙂  This card makes me chuckle, as it’s probably the most honest spring themed card that I could ever make.  Much as I love the warmer weather, and looking for the first bits of green and spring blooms, the sure harbinger of spring for me is – you got it – a nasty spring cold!!!! I don’t do colds well…the sniffles, and runny nose, and teary eyes and aches – makes me whine a bit more than perhaps I should, lol.  This little sweetie, from Mo’s Digital Pencil, is the spirit of spring!!! I colored “Sick” up with my Copics, feeling a real kinship with her as I kept reaching for tissue between strokes of marker.

I dug around in my scrap bin and found some bright pieces of patterned paper that coordinated well with each other and the image, and edged them with some white gel pen details.  I embossed a piece of lime green CS for an additional layer.  I used the same green to die cut a sentiment multiple times, so, when they were glued together, it gave some nice dimension.

Besides some bright pink Nuvo drops, the only other embellishment was….pieces of tissue!! I was really smiling by the time this card was finished….as I hope the recipient will….if she can stop sneezing for long enough!!

Daffodil Delivery

Hi there 🙂  I’ve had some time on my hands lately, so thought it was the perfect opportunity to work with some images that I just had to have…..but never had time to use :/  I’ve long been a fan of the adorable images at Di’s Digital Stamps, and this sweet little bunny with his bouquet of daffodils captured my heart right away.  I colored Daffodil Delivery with my Copics, trying to give as much texture as possible to both the bunny and the flowers.

The background was done with Distress Oxides and a mask.  Since the challenge theme at Di’s Digi Stamps is to add or show texture, I decided to add some as well, and embossed the yellow background piece with a Spellbinders embossing folder.  I attached a pretty lace die cut to one edge, and wrapped some grosgrain ribbon, with a button centered bow, on the other edge.  A small stamped sentiment on a banner finished the card off 🙂

Reason To Smile

Hey there 🙂  Today, I’m sharing my inspiration card for the new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge Blog.  We love coming up with new sponsors, when we can, and are excited that this challenge features a sponsor that we have never had before 🙂  MeadowHaven has kindly agreed to sponsor us, and has given the DT some amazing images to work with 🙂  I used Clover Morning on my card.  After coloring this beautiful scene with my Copics, I added some highlights to the wings and the frame with clear and gold Spectrum Noir glitter markers.

I felt that the detailed nature of the image called for a CAS design, so I simply adhered the image to a white background that I’d embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder.  The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in gold, then cut out with a fishtail banner die.  Some gold pearls and a gold mat finish the card off.  We’d love to see what you’re working on, and who knows, you may be the lucky winner of the prize from this amazing new sponsor 🙂
