Thanksgiving Berries

Hi there 🙂 It’s hard to believe that another month has flown by and it’s time for another challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group! All of our challenges are ATG, but we also have an optional twist, and this month, that twist is “Warm Colors”. When I was looking through the Sheepski Shop, these Berries caught my eye, and I decided to work with them. I was invited to a friend’s for (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner, and figured that this would be a perfect card for the hostess 🙂 I colored the image with my Copics, and was seriously thrilled with how the berries turned out 🙂 I’m pretty sure it was my grumbling that did it – LOL.

I die cut a frame for the image, then dug through my paper stash until I found the double sided DP that I used. The little branches on the striped side reminded me of berries for some reason. A little bit of inking, and everything was ready to assemble. I added the Thanksgiving greeting, a sheer black ribbon and bow, and some black pearls to finish this card off.

Boo!

Hi there!! Another Sunday, which means that I have another inspiration post for the current Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is very seasonal…..Halloween, Halloween Colors, or Pumpkins 🙂

Don’t forget that this month, Ching-Chou is celebrating her 5 year anniversary, and as a gift to everyone that enters her challenges this month, this adorable image will be sent out as a freebie at the end of the challenge!!

I have used one of the newer images in Ching-Chou’s Etsy store, Little Magic, for my card. I colored her up with Copics, then die/fussy cut her out.

I die cut the orange background with some swirling stars, then added a piece of sheer, sparkly web patterned fabric to the bottom half. I separated the 2 halves with some black seam binding (out of black ribbon!!!! LOL), that I made a loopy type bow on either side of the image. I added a die cut corn patch to the bottom, then colored up a wooden Boo! sentiment to add to the top corner. I layered this piece over some gold glitter paper so that the star die cuts sparkled 🙂

Rose Beauty

Hi there 🙂 Here is an inspiration project for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme is Halloween/Pumpkins/Halloween Colors this month….plus…it’s a very special month….Ching-Chou is celebrating her 5th year Anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, every one that enters either our Facebook or our Blog challenge will receive this gorgeous image, free, at the end of the challenge!!!

I wasn’t feeling too Halloween-y when I made my card, so opted for the Halloween color option….black, orange, purple, green…. I used the image called Black Rose, and colored it with my Copics before fussy cutting it out.

I die cut a gorgeous frame from black CS, then layered it over white. I colored the dot cut outs with orange and added some Glossy accents to add some extra “framing” for the beautiful image. I then die cut some purple roses and some leaves, to co-ordinate with the main picture. I layered everything on some more black and white mats, then added a few orange gems as a finishing touch 🙂

Birthday Panda

Hello!! I’m here to share my inspiration project for the current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. Our generous sponsor, Some Odd Girl, provided the DT with some fun images to work with, and I chose Panda Nerd for my project. I have a special someone who LOVES pandas, so it was perfect for her birthday! I colored him with my Copics, and added Glossy Accents to his glasses before fussy cutting the image. I had a piece of DP with birthday text on it, which was ideal for this card. I layered a piece of embossed and inked paper over this, then added die cut balloons. This festive little guy was then ready to pop in the mail 🙂

Heart and Soul

Hi there 🙂 Today, I have an inspiration project for Aurora Wings Facebook challenge. Our monthly challenges are ATG with and Aurora Wings image….and it can be a project or coloring…old or new!! We love to see them all <3 I chose Elven Queen for my project. She can be found exclusively HERE in the Digi Store. I learned a few things while making this project…..first thing…alcohol markers don’t do too well on vellum…..it made a smeary mess…the garbage got some vellum lunch! Second thing I learned was that (and I KNEW this!!!!!) you have to be very very careful when applying a water based clear coat on top of digis printed on an ink jet…..a whole different kind of smeary mess…..lol….garbage got a dinner out of the deal too!!! Well, as is often the case with me, the third time was the charm 🙂 I colored this with my Copics….sticking to red tones for a monochromatic look. When I was done, I fussy cut her out, and added chunky silver and red glitter and some tiny gemstones to her jewellery.

I then took a storage jar, that instant coffee came in years ago, and painted the inside of it with silver paint. When the paint was dry, I set to work decorating it. I glued the image down, then used some sparkly, fuzzy yarn to make an otherworldy cloud for the Elven Queen to rise from.

I decorated the yarn with gemstones and the same glitter mix that I used on her jewellery. To finish off, I added a big red heart gem, a small + sign and the word SOUL in rhinestone letters.

This Heart and Soul jar was done 🙂 ……and I have no idea what I’m putting in it!!! LOL

Snow Wonderful

Well, last post for the weekend….and back to work tomorrow. This card is a bit of inspiration for the Sheepski Designs Facebook group challenge. Our optional theme this month is Fur, Feather or Wings. As you can see, I stepped a bit out of the box, and chose “wings”. This happy little snowman is making his own wings, making a snow angel 🙂 Snow Happy is available at the Sheepski Etsy store, and is just the cutest image for a fun Christmas card!! I colored him up with my Copics, then added some snowy sparkle to make him shine 🙂

I inked the edge of the image, then layered it on some sparkly DP, with some snowflake diecuts tucked between the layers. The greeting was stamped, then cut out with a tag die. A few sparkly gems balanced the card off and added just a “bit” more sparkle!

Pink Autumn

Hi there 🙂 Another Sunday has rolled around, so that means it’s time for me to share some inspiration from Ching-Chou Kuik 🙂 Our monthly Facebook challenge, with the theme Fall/Fall colors, has a week left to go, so you still have time to get an entry in! This week, the DT was thrown an extra challenge, and it was Think Pink….as a nod to breast cancer awareness. When the DT has an extra challenge, I always like to incorporate the monthly challenge theme, as well. Well, this week, it was a bit of a mission!!! I never think of pink as an autumn color, but I guess that’s what a challenge is all about!! I used the beautiful Autumn Fantasy, found in the Etsy Store. After coloring her up with my Copics….using mostly pinks, with the exception of the fall leaves, I started to develop an idea 🙂

I die cut some maple leaves, then used the same markers that I colored the leaves in the image, to color them. I die cut a pretty pink frame, glued it on a light pink base, and arranged the leaves around the image. Because I’d added some gold gel pen accents to the image, I stamped and embossed the Thank You sentiment in gold, and added some gold touches with Liquid Pearls. Before matting on a bright pink CS, I lightly edged the back with some gold ink.

Looking at the finished product, I was actually surprised at how good the pink looked with the fall leaves!! Probably not a “go to” color combo, but certainly one that I won’t discount any longer!!

Vampire Christmas

Hello! Time is really buzzing by, and it’s really feeling and looking like fall here in Saskatchewan, Canada. It’s also time for a new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers!! We would love to see whatever you create!! My creation took a few twists and turns along the way….lol. I used Halloween Vampire Rose Lady from Morgan’s Artworld, and was originally going to make a Halloween card. That is, until a friend said, after it was colored, that it could be used for Christmas, too. I’m more of a traditional type for Christmas, so didn’t think much more of that idea, until I mentioned it to another friend, and she told me it would be perfect for her sister!

So….I went with the idea! I decided to stretch things even further, and do a black on black design. I die cut a “frame” for the image from a leather look black paper, thinking that different textures will define the different elements. I embossed the background with a Spellbinders folder, then went over it with a clear glitter pen from Spectrum Noir. I die cut some holly sprigs with a Tim Holtz die, then arranged everything over the background which I’d wrapped with some sheer black ribbon. To finish off, I added a pretty bow (that tied up right the FIRST time I tried!!!!!), and some black gemstones to edge the ribbon, add holly “berries” and to dress up the centre of the bow.

Bow closeup that you can see a bit of the clear glitter on the background 🙂

I’m so happy with how this unusual Christmas card turned out….and maybe I’ll try some of the same techniques on a Halloween card!!!

Dragonfly Easel

Hey there 🙂 I’ve got a quick inspiration post for our current challenge at Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group. Our theme this month is Fall/Fall Colors, and this week, the DT was also challenged to include a bug or insect in the project. Of course, Ching-Chou has a fabulous selection to fit either of these themes at her Etsy shop!!! I used Purple Dragonfly for my card, and colored it up in fall colors with my Copic markers.

I cut the image out with a die that frames it nicely, then set to assembling this easel card, using the current sketch at Cheerful Sketches as an inspiration.

The background paper I’ve had for years, but was perfect for this project, and was complimented so nicely with some warm brown matting. I die cut the dragonfly embellishment out of gold mirror card, then added some gold peel off dragonflies and a strip of gold leaves, also peel off sticker. I carried on the design for the base of the easel. I like how some laugh at the size of my stash…..pointing out that I haven’t used something for ages….like peel off stickers….but I know that they will come in handy at some point….as they have here!!!!

*I didn’t mention that I used gold shimmer pen on the image’s dragonfly wings, because no matter what, you can’t see it in the photo….but you gotta believe me when I say I did!! LOL

Butterflies in the Breeze

Hi there 🙂 Time for my Sunday inspiration for Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. This month, our theme is Fall/Fall Colors. This is such a beautiful time of year, and we are looking forward to seeing all your autumnal makes 🙂 I used the image Blowing In the Wind, on of the many gorgeous images that can be found at the Etsy Shop. I colored her with my Copics, then fussy cut her out.

I die cut an olive green back drop for her, as well as a bare tree to tuck behind her. I glued everything to a piece of warm brown background paper, and added a bunch of punched butterflies (instead of leaves) and was not happy with it at all!!! After sleeping on it for a night, I decided to cut the top and bottom edges of the background in a curve, then ink them with distress ink. I placed it on a piece of shimmery gold paper, but it was still missing something! I got out my embossing folders, and decided on a swirly pattern that reminded me of wind blowing.

I added a sticker sentiment, and some orange twine (it was orange and white, but I colored it to match the rest of the colors) that I tied a butterfly charm to (also colored to match!) Some glittery “trails” for the butterflies, and a green mat to match the image backdrop finished the card off 🙂
