Holly Fairy

Hi there 🙂 Here is my last inspiration of November for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group challenge. Our theme is Remembrance/Thanksgiving/Thinking of You….and this week the DT had an extra challenge of “Christmas”. I like to combine the main theme with the DT themes, to avoid confusion of prospective entrants, and I think I managed to do that here 🙂 I used the lovely Holly Fairy image, from THIS set, found at the Etsy store. I colored her up with my Copics, then set to figuring out what to do with the rest of the card!!

My scrap bin is getting a bit out of hand, so I felt as if I should really start using more of those scraps (any piece less than 4 x 6″ ends up in this bin). I dug around until I found some pieced that coordinated with each other and the image, and played around until I came up with the final layout.

I feel the stitching adds a bit of definition between the main background piece and the card blank….the zig zag borders reflected this stitching. On the striped piece, I added some doodled stitches to coordinate with the die cut frame. The holly die cuts are from Tim Holtz and are finished with sequin “berries”. The sentiment is one I made on the computer 🙂

Christmas Bells

Hi all 🙂 I’m here with my inspiration project for Sheepski Designs Facebook group challenge. All of our challenges are ATG with a Sheepski image, but there’s always an optional theme, if you need help deciding. This month, it’s Sparkle and Shine. When Andrea posted the theme for the DT, I read Shimmer and Shine, for some reason, and went with that, lol. I used one of the newer images in the Etsy store, Christmas Bells, and colored it up with my Copics, adding some highlights with a white Posca pen.

I’ve had this bell printed paper for a long time, and this was the perfect image to use it with!!! It’s double sided, so I also used the red dotted side, and added some shimmery gold strips as well. I wrapped some shimmery (I went with my mistaken theme!!!! LOL) gold ribbon around a piece of green and tied a pretty bow. For the shine, I added some gold ball embellishments, and die cut a sentiment from gold mirror card 🙂

Another card in my Christmas stack, which was getting pretty big….until I had to relinquish 90% of it for the order I got!!!

Enough Reindeer?

Hi 🙂 I’m running a bit late with this post….have been working NON STOP to get a massive card order done….and yay!!! All done and delivered 🙂 Now I get to start all over so I have some Christmas cards for MYSELF, lol. This card is my inspiration as DT for Creative Fingers Challenge. Our theme is always ATG, and we just love to see your amazing makes 🙂 This time, our sponsor is the one and only Bugaboo Stamps. We were lucky enough to get some images to work with, and I’m using Enough Reindeer. Poop sad little puppy….even with tears!! I colored him with Copics, and added a few touches of white pen accents, and a teeny bit of Glossy Accents, to make the tears look wet! No matter how I tried to photograph him….the tears didn’t really show to great effect.

I cut him out with a stitched rectangular die, and used a stitched tag die to cut out the sentiment that comes with the image. I inked and embossed the edges of these pieces with a sparkly red embossing powder. The plaid background paper shows off the image nicely, and I cut a fishtail banner from another piece of paper from the same stack (also edged and embossed). The red glitter ribbon and bow adds a nice sparkle for Christmas. I finished off by attaching a little North Pole brad in the bow centre, and matting everything with red glitter paper.

Purple-icous

Hi there 🙂 Another Sunday has rolled around, and it’s time for another inspiration project for Ching-Chou Kuik’s Facebook challenge! This month, our theme is Remembrance/Thanksgiving/Thinking of You, but this week, the DT was thrown an extra challenge, and that is Purple-icious. I used Green Moth Maiden, and turned her purple!!! I used a number of different purple Copic combos on this, from bluish purple, to greyish, and pretty much everything in between, lol.

I had the background paper, with it’s moth/butterfly print picked out as soon as I decided to use this image….how perfect can it be?? I die cut a bunch of little butterfly/moths out of black and a shimmery purple, then used the same papers to cut the burst that I positioned in the opposite corner. I added some sparkly flight trails and accents on the burst, which co-ordinated nicely with the sparkly Thinking of You sentiment, as well as adding some dimension to the card 🙂

Special Birthday

When it’s your bestie’s birthday, you need a special card…..and when she is an amazing card maker….well….pressure’s on! LOL My bff’s fave color is purple, and she definitely has a bit of a dark side to her as well. I went on a search for a great image for her card….not that I don’t have THOUSANDS already…..and found this one, which is perfect at Jade Dragonne on Deviant Art. I colored her up with my Copics, and added some sparkle to the lace then fussy cut her out.

I had seen this style of card on Pinterest, and managed to find a post with a tutorial, so decided to give it a go. Did I actually pin the tutorial? NO…..oops….but it’s there….really!! I could’t figure out how to do this myself, lol. If I find links in my web wanderings, I will update this post with the link 🙂 ***found!!! http://jenniferds.blogspot.com/2019/05/la-la-land-crafts-3d-corner-pop-up-card.html?m=1 ***

I’m not great at math, and have little patience for precise measurement….but I hunkered down and got all the pieces cut for this card. I had some beautiful printed paper that were perfect, both in style and in color, that I distressed the edges of all the pieces, then used sparkle embossing powder to add a pretty touch to the edges. After I had the main part of the card all assembled, I made an easel for the image to pop up on. A die cut banner with a stamped and embossed sentiment provided the stopper for the easel. I dug around and found some flowers in my stash to embellish the card with….coincidentally, they are lovely Petal Lu flowers that I received from my bestie for MY birthday last year!! I added a couple little red daisies and some die cut leaves….but….it still needed…..SKULLS!! Of course I didn’t have any tiny skulls in my craft hoard, but I have Fimo….so I made some to tuck in to the flower clusters 🙂

Christmas Insanity

Hi there 🙂 The holidays are quickly approaching, and I’m in full Christmas card gear. I almost gave up on them, after doing this as an inspiration piece for Aurora Wings Facebook challenge – because my eyesight was failing me!!! Mitzi came up with this compilation of some favorite holiday images for the Christmas in July promotion. This page is available in the files section of the Facebook group. Check out both the Digi Store holiday section and the Etsy store for these 14 images (and many more!!!), available separately.

I printed this quite small….smaller than it was wise to do!! I colored the image with my Copics, adding some detail with white and gold gel pens. I held my breath for the better part of the coloring, because those darn details are TINY!!! I grumbled about Mitzi’s peculiar sense of humor at creating this page and my brilliance at printing it so small. Here is a pic, with a Copic beside the card, to show the size of the full image.

This puppy didn’t need too much fuss to make a finished card, so I simply matted it with silver mirror card, added some sequins and a die cut border sentiment 🙂 I hope you can find some time to join in on our challenge….we take old or new creations/colorings, so if you’re running short of time, we’d love to see some AW beauty that you made in the past!!

Remembrance

Hello 🙂 Time for me to share an inspiration project for the current challenge at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group. Our theme this month is Remembrance/Thanksgiving/Thinking of You. I wanted to do a Remembrance card, and luckily, Ching-Chou has quite a few images that feature poppies in her Etsy store. I chose Poppy Love for my card, and colored this beauty up with my Copics.

I die cut a black lattice background, and layered it over a deep green piece of cardstock. I couldn’t believe that I had no poppies in my flower stash, nor poppy dies in my collection, so I had to make my own. I cut multiple layers (freehand, lol) of poppy shapes from some red tissue, then used a punch and a brad to make the centres. I crinkled them a bit to give the flowers some dimension, before adding them to the card with some die cut leaves. A small blue bow finished things off.

Reflection

Hi there 🙂 Well, I think that winter has hit here. We’ve had snow, and I think it’s here to stay. More crafty time 🙂 It’s time again for another ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We have a brand new sponsor, and she has some gorgeous images!!! Check out Michelle Tracy Art at Etsy!! She was kind enough to provide images for the DT to work with, and I used Contemplation. I colored her up with my Copics, then added gold gel pen accents on the frame, and clear sparkle over the wings.

I cut the image out and placed it on a piece that I’d die cut a pretty border on. I tied a pretty bow in a muted gold, and centered it with the same square gemstones that I used as accents on the side. With the image being so detailed, this was all the card needed. I hope you can join us in our challenge, for the chance of winning a prize from this talented artist 🙂

Pumpkin Patch

Hi there 🙂 October is coming to a close, and that means Halloween!!! Our 5th anniversary challenge at Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group is coming to an end, but I’m taking the time to squeak in one more inspiration piece. Our theme is Halloween/Halloween Colors/Pumpkins, and this card fits quite nicely into all of those options 🙂 I used Night at the Pumpkin Patch, and decided to color it up in monotone, except for the pumpkins, so I grabbed my Copics and got to work 🙂

When I was done, I fiddled around with a number of papers and layouts, and opted to keep it quite simple. I layered black and a black and orange print as a backdrop for the gorgeous image. A die cut sentiment and some black gems were all that the card needed, as the simplicity really let the image shine 🙂

No Exit

Hello 🙂 With Halloween fast approaching, and with it the end of this month’s ATG (with an Aurora Wings image, of course), old or new, coloring or full project, challenge at the Aurora Wings Facebook group…I figured it was time to share my DT project! I used two of Mitzi’s images, Let Us In (available HERE on Etsy and HERE in the digi shop), and Zombie Puppy (available exclusively HERE in the digi shop). I had a bit of fun by replacing the little dolls head with the little boy’s sister’s head, making it into a voodoo doll ( wonder what she did to upset him so much??).

Sooooo tiny, it’s hard to get a good pic!

I colored them with my Copics, adding glossy accents to the blood, then fussy cut them out. After adding some pins to the doll, I set them aside, as I went to work on the background.

I sponged the sky with Distress Inks, and added a grassy ground with Copics. I die cut a horizon line, some trees, gravestones, and a sign that indicates that there is no exit from this graveyard, and made a scene for the kids. I then folded up a shadow frame, and placed the background inside. I popped the kids up with foam and added some moss to the ground before adding the puppy to the edge of the frame. The branch looked a bit bare, so I popped an owl button on it. Some rope was the perfect material to add as a hanger for this fun Halloween decor piece 🙂
