Gingerbread Delight

Hi there 🙂 Some festive fun, featuring images from 2 Power Poppy digital sets. I used the image and one of the sentiments from the Gingerbread Cottage set, as well as the fronts of both the gingerbread boy and girl from the Gingerbread Family set. I colored all the images with my Copics, and added some touches of “shine” with a white Posca pen.

After cutting them out with a die, I set them aside to try and figure out what kind of card to make….it was for my bestie, so it had to be special 🙂 Well, after settling on a side step type of card, I proceeded to cut, fold, and wreck 4 pieces of paper, before getting the base for this one!!! It’s as if I had never made a side step card….man, was I brain dead!!! I had purchased a pad of gorgeous Christmas plaid papers, and this particular print seemed perfect with these adorable images. I die cut some trees to tuck behind the “kids”, added some square gems and then finished off with some green bows. Loving how this turned out….even with the grief and confusion I had while assembling it 🙂

Asian Birthday

Hi there 🙂 This card is to commemorate a very special day…..Ching-Chou Kuik’s birthday!!! We are having a special extra challenge with Birthdays as the theme over at our Facebook group in honor of this occasion. Hopefully you can join us for an extra chance to win some of Ching-Chou’s gorgeous images 🙂 I used Lantern Night for my card. I colored her up with my Copics and added a few small accents with both white and gold pens.

I had some special papers that I received about 15 years ago in a swap with a partner from China that I was saving for just the right project….I decided that this was it!! Thankfully, I thought of this paper before I started coloring, so I was able to match and coordinate the color scheme of the image!!! I also had some brand new Asian inspired dies that just HAD to be used on this….I cut them from a muted gold paper, then again from a dark blue CS, so I could inlay some of the pieces. I stamped and embossed the sentiment with gold, matted it with the dark blue and this card was done 🙂

Welcome Baby

Hello 🙂 I was asked to make a special card for my friend’s first granddaughter, Josie. I knew right away which image I wanted to use for this, Fairy Sleepy, from Mo’s Digital Pencil. I colored this little sweetie up with my Copics, then added some clear shimmer to the wings, and inked the background. Some white dots on the background with a Posca pen gave the impression of sparkle.

I dug around in my alarmingly big stash of papers to find just the right prints to go with the image. I chose some from a collection that I got as a freebie in a magazine…..probably about 10 years ago!! Lol. I added some stitching with a fine point pen on the dotted print, to mirror the stitching in the stripes. After matting and layering the pieces up, I carefully edged the striped piece with some pretty trim. I popped the image up with some foam dots. I found some flowers in my stash that coordinated with the color scheme so well you’d think I had planned it (I didn’t!). I die cut some leaves for this arrangement and tucked them in after lightly inking their edges. I personalized the welcome by printing it on my computer, then die cut and inked it before popping it on some foam dots as well 🙂

Panda Greetings

Happy New Year!!! Just in case you haven’t had enough of Christmas yet, I’ll share this little cutie with you. I’m off on the right foot for 2020!! This sweet panda bear is from THIS set at the AMB Illustrations Etsy store. A fabulous place to find some absolutely adorable images, and unbelievably good prices!!! I colored him up with my Copics, then went through my scraps to see what I had that I could layer this little guy up with. I had quite a bit of green pieces as well, so I used that to mat each layer. I added a piece of ribbon, and fastened some strips and a die cut sentiment with a bright green brad.

Christmas Friends

Wow!! Where has this year gone??? Its hard to believe that this is my last inspiration post for Ching-Chou Kuik’s Facebook group this year!!!! Our theme this month is Happy Christmas/Happy Birthday, and I used the sweet Winter Fellows image for my card. I colored it up with my Copics and matted it with a shimmery gold card stock. A simple green and gold print paper was the perfect background. Since the image is quite detailed, I didn’t want to detract from it with a lot of embellishments, so I just added a gold die cut sentiment and some gold balls in the corners. Bonus is, is that it’s fairly flat for mailing 🙂 I hope you have a happy and healthy Christmas, and all the very best in the New Year!!!

Thanks Gift Card Holder

Hi there 🙂 Over at Creative Fingers, we have had numerous fabulous and generous sponsors throughout the year, and we have a special post, with blog candy, as a Thank You to these sponsors.

Morgan’s Artworld has been a repeat sponsor, and I’ve used one of her images, Old Roses, for my thank you 🙂 I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. I sprinkled some Gold embossing powder in the center part of the image to give some texture and shine. I made up a gift card holder, that has a tag that you can slip the card into, which fits inside the main pocket.

I attached the image to the front, after stamping a sentiment and scattering some gold embossing powder on the back. A gold die cut ‘thanks’, attached at an angle, gives the sentiment a pop, without detracting from the lovely image. The gold is carried through with the ribbon on the tag insert. I hope you can visit us, and leave your info, for a chance to win the blog candy!!

Peaceful Poinsettias

Wow, second last Sunday before Christmas already!! And I was stupid enough to finish up my shopping yesterday!!! Today, it’s time for some inspiration for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is Happy Christmas/Happy Birthday with a CCK image. I used one of Ching-Chou’s newer images…Poinsettia in December, for my card. I colored her with my Copics, then fussy cut her out.

I placed her on some die cuts that I layered up, then onto the background paper. It isn’t Christmas paper, but the print reminded me of snow! I made the poinsettia embellishments by layering die cuts and adding silver micro beads for the centers. These were arranged with foliage, cut from white and silver shimmer papers. The sentiment was stamped and embossed on a fishtail banner. Since I mail quite a few cards, I like to keep them as flat as possible, and this one fits the bill!!!

Little Spy

Hi there! Today, I have an inspiration card that features the adorable image that is being offered as a freebie by Sheepski Designs in the Kit and Clowder Advent event on Facebook. There are tons of freebies and discounts being offered this month, so be sure to check it out!! I printed the Christmas sentiment at the same time as the image, then colored it all up with my Copics.

I fussy cut the bottom part of the image, and then arranged it above a cluster of die cut pine branches. I also tucked a few branches around the image, to make it look as if this cute group was peeking out from the trees. I added snow to the branches for a festive, wintery feel. All that was needed to finish this rather CAS card was a mat in the same green as the foliage.

Pink Christmas

Hi there:) I have an inspiration card for the current Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. This month, our theme is Happy Christmas/Happy Birthday. I’m using the beautiful Snowflake Imprint image on this. I have a friend whose sister loves pink, and I was asked to make her a card. I colored the image with my Copics and added a bit of sparkle to the snowflakes. Then I cut it into a circle that I’d edged in pink.

For the base of the background, I used mirror card printed with snowflakes….I love mirror card, but it is a devil to photograph!!!

I die cut the snowflake corner twice from pink shimmer paper, and twice from white card stock, so that I could do some inlaying. By using white inlays, it gave a bit more definition against the background. I cut a sentiment from the same pink shimmer paper. Some pink pearls provided a pretty finishing touch.

Oooooo Santa!!

I was honored, and thrilled to be asked to GDT at Scrapping 4Fun Challenges. This time, the theme is Christmas 🙂

We’d love to see some of your fabulous festive makes! I used a KennyK image from my stash…..love these images, and it makes me sad that the store is closed….but at least I stocked up before hand! 🙂 I colored Stud Santa up with my Copics, then fussy cut him out. I haven’t made a bendy card for quite a while, so decided that this would be a great image to use on one. I found numerous templates and directions for bendy cards on Pinterest, you just have to do a quick search 🙂 I used some wood grain DP, and some buffalo plaid DP for the background. I’d decided which friend this was for and the buffalo plaid was an absolute MUST for her!!! I die cut some Christmas lights, and added both glitter and Glossy Accents to the bulbs to give them a bit of “extra”. I arranged them around the image, and the die cut sentiment. For a quick finishing touch, I doodled around the edges with a white Posca pen 🙂 I’d like to thank the team at Scrapping 4Fun for having me as a guest at their fabulous challenge 🙂
