Photo Cat

Hey there 🙂 Another ATG challenge has begun over at Creative Fingers Challenge Blog 🙂 As always, we have a fabulous sponsor, and this time, it’s Some Odd Girl! The DT has been provided with images to use in their inspiration projects, and I have used Hipster Photography Cat. I colored it up with my Copics, adding a few small touches with a white Posca, then fussy cut it out.

I knew just the paper I was going to use, as I recently got a pad with all kinds of cool prints, including cameras! I die cut a piece of the stripe print to pop the cat on with foam dots and matted it with a bright pink to go with her bow. I cut a strip of the camera print and chose some of the hashtag words to scatter around the image on the dotty background paper. This cool little kitty is definitely Insta ready!!!!

Aurora Wings New Release!

Hi there 🙂 Such an exciting day, as Mitzi has a fabulous new release that is to die for!!! The girls have really outdone themselves for the showcase post this time (ok…..EVERY time!!) I was honored to help out with the showcase this time, and had so much fun working with these amazing new releases, available HERE on Etsy, and HERE in the digi shop 🙂

I started out coloring the beautiful Aries image…..I did some Googling on this sign and came up with the sepia/red color combo that I used, as that seems to be a very “Aries” palette 🙂 I decided on a round easel card for this image, as the shape seemed to call for a round card 🙂 After coloring it with Copics, and adding some gold touches with both gel pen and embossing powders, I assembled the card, using red roses, a shimmery bow and some gold beads as embellishments. The easel stopper is a stamped sentiment that I cut out in a strip and popped up. The finishing touch was some gold stars, arranged in the Aries constellation pattern.

My next project is a card featuring the adorable Tulip Sprite. I colored her up with my Copics, using a pretty spring color palette. I can’t be the only one that is SO ready for spring!!!! I die cut the image out, and matted it with another die cut that coordinated with the background paper. This background paper has been in my stash for a while….it is actually sign paper that we used in a store I used to work at!!!! I added a white picket fence and a die cut sentiment, before finishing this card off with some pearl accents 🙂

The next image that I worked with is the sweet Phlox Sprite. I kept her outfit very neutral, so the vibrant purple and green of the blossoms really popped. I kept the design for this little sweetie’s card very CAS, only adding a stamped sentiment and some coordinating sequins.

For the last of the new releases….the cute little Mouse Sprite, I let my somewhat warped sense of humor take the reign. I colored the little guy with my Copics, then fussy cut him out. I made a door hanger to display this cutie….one that warns a person of what may be waiting on the other side of the door!!! I made up the message on my computer, and die cut the bottom to look like cheese, before gluing the Mouse Sprite on 🙂

As is often the case, Mitzi is offering a special gift with purchase with this new release!!! The generous, and incredibly adorable, gift this time is Koala Sprite. I think I may have squealed a bit when I saw this sweet Sprite <3 I colored this little family up, then fussy cut the image out. I attached them to a gift card holder…..with the die cut hearts and sweet stamped sentiment, it could be a perfect holder for a Valentine’s gift for that person that doesn’t like candy or flowers!

I hope you like my contribution to the new release showcase 🙂 I’d love to see what you come up with using any of these images!!! Here are the applicable codes that you can use 🙂

Christmas Mermaid

Hey there 🙂 I have my last inspiration card for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this month is “New”. I chose to go with new stash (dies) and New Year Resolution (start my Christmas cards early!!!). The DT was also challenged to use a mythical creature this week – so I chose Christmas Snow, and colored her up with my Copics, going with a non-traditional color scheme.

I cut her out and found some fuzzy red trim to edge the image with. While i was digging around in my trims, I also found some tiny white pom pom trim that I used when I was layering things up for this card. A couple snowflake border dies, and some white card candy dots also found a place on my card 🙂 I’m happy to say that I’m getting a good start on cards for this year….hopefully I can stick to my resolution throughout the year!!!

Special Day

Hello there 🙂 Today I have an inspiration project for the new ATG challenge over at Creative Fingers Challenge 🙂 We are being sponsored by Angelique, who is offering a die set to the lucky winner. I chose to use an image by one of our regular sponsors, Morgan’s ArtWorld. I have a close friend who loves daisies, so this is for her 🙂 I colored the image with my Copics, then stamped a sentiment. I inked the edges and sprinkled some embossing powder around the image to give it a bit of texture and definition.

I die cut a pretty mat for the image, then layered it with a brown piece of CS that I’d used a scalloped punch on, and a bright striped piece to add some OOMPH to the bottom. A piece of white ribbon and some pearls were the only embellishment this lovely image needed 🙂

All of Us

Hello 🙂 Yes, this is a Christmas card that you’re seeing!! I’m trying to get off to an early start, so I can relax a bit when the holidays roll around (ha! Like that will happen!) This month’s ATG challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group has the optional theme of “I Love…” I’m in serious anti Valentine mood this year, so no mushy stuff from me!! I love this image, Garden Party, the color red, plaid, Christmas, and the black, white and red color combo 🙂 I colored it up with my Copics, adding some white Posca “sparkles” to a few of the hats, and a shiny gold tooth to one of the guys.

I fussy cut the top portion, and placed it on some plaid print CS. I cut the sentiment (which, btw, matches the colors of the image way better in real life) twice, once in red, once in black, then layered it for a shadow effect. I matted the card with the same colors to give it even more of a pop!!

A New Chapter

Hey there 🙂 Well, January is half done, and *hopefully* winter will soon be over. Last week we had an unbelievable cold snap, with temperatures falling to -38 C!!! Good thing we’re tough, and all that means is an extra layer when we go outside, lol. I have an inspiration card for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group that doesn’t reflect those temperatures at all 🙂 Our theme this month is “New”….that can be a new baby, new job, new crafty stuff….anything that fits into the “New” category 🙂 The DT was given an extra challenge when making their projects, and that was to use our LEAST favorite color…..well…that was an easy one for me….I absolutely loathe the color peach!!! Not only crafting wise, either, in clothes, decor, etc…..anything!!! I used the lovely Silently Sparkling image and colored it with my Copics.

I was hoping that using such a gorgeous image would make working with this color a bit easier….it helped, a bit. I found some papers that were peach/peach print and set to layering things up. As is often the case when one is working with something they dislike, things didn’t go too easily. After walking away from this a number of times, I got the idea of implementing a book page…..that, and some stencilling in black, made this project come together. A fitting sentiment, some twine, and some black ball embellishments finished the card off 🙂

Mermaid Wishes

Well, I think this will be my last post for the weekend….I better get some housework done!!! I’ve been itching to make a card with this Polkadoodles image since I first saw it!!! I finally got my time organized…ish, and was able to color up Winnie Mermazing Anchors Away!

After coloring her with my Copics and adding some touches with my white Posca, I dug into some of my new stash 🙂 I had new paper and sea themed dies that were just the things to use on this card. Because there were a few things that I wanted to add, I decided to go for an easel card, as they give a bit more surface room to work with. After I arranged various die cuts on the perfect watery background, I attached Winnie, and a computer generated sentiment that acts as a stopper for the easel. The cool thing about this card, is, even though there is quite a bit going on, it folds flat for mailing!!!

New Beginnings

Good morning! I have my very first inspiration project for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge 🙂 Our theme is “New” – it can be a new baby, home, crafty item….etc. Or, in my case, for a New Beginning. I used Night Shadow for this. It’s a beautiful gray scale image that can be used for so many occasions. I colored it with my Copics, and matted it in black.

When using such a dramatic image, I like to keep the design of my card quite CAS. I used a dark green background CS, and made up the sentiment on my computer. A few black embellishments balanced things out and added just the right finishing touch 🙂

Just Fly

Hello 🙂 2020 is settling in, I’m not even making any mistakes when I write the date down anymore! The first challenge of the year is on at the Aurora Wings Facebook group. The challenges are ATG, and you can enter just a coloring, or a full project; you can also enter works that you have done in the past….we love to see it all!!! I used the image Reverie for my card, you can find it HERE in the digi shop, and HERE on Etsy. Be sure to check if there are any discount codes that Mitzi has posted in the group, so you can get a great deal on any of her gorgeous images!! I colored this with my Copics, and added a few touches with gold and white pens when I was done. After die cutting it out with a pretty oval die, I sprinkled some embossing powders around the image to give some sparkle and texture.

For the card base, I die cut the center of the front flap with the same die that I used for the image, to make 2 pieces. After edging the scallops with my white Posca, I attached the image, backing it with another cut to sandwich the card base pieces. I wanted to bring in the gorgeous from the image with my embellishments. A combination of flowers, die cut greenery, some delicate beaded thread, some stamens, and some touches of clear sparkle pen, I achieved the look I was going for. I searched for the sentiment for quite awhile….I knew in a way what I was looking for, and when I found this one, I created a style of my own on my computer. I think we all have wings that we forget about sometimes, and this card is a great reminder for someone that needs a bit of encouragement!!

Dotty Hello

Hi there 🙂 This is my first inspiration card of the year for the Creative Fingers Challenge! All of our challenges are ATG, and we absolutely adore seeing all the amazing creations entered! This time, we are sponsored by the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps 🙂 I used the adorable Window Girl for my card. After coloring the image with my Copics, I cut it out and attached it to the bottom part of a dotted pattern piece of paper. I thought the dot print was great, as it mirrored the dots of the ladybug etc. in the image. I die cut the word “hello” twice, and layered the red over the black to give it a shadowed effect. I double matted the card with the same red and black colors, then added a sprinkling of sequins for a finishing touch.
