Christmas Skates

Hello 🙂 It’s time to share my DT inspiration for the current ATG Challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by the fabulous Jan’s Digi Stamps, who gave the DT members some images to play with. I chose the gorgeous Christmas Skates, part of this set. I colored the image with my Copics, then matted it with some silver mirror card stock.

I thought a pretty white and silver color palette would really show off this beautiful image nicely. To add a bit of texture, I ran a piece of paper through a dotted embossing folder then matted and layered it, adding a die cut sentiment from the silver paper. After adding a pretty red bow, the front panel was ready to adhere to the card base. I die cut the edge of the base into a lacy scallop, then popped on a silver border. I added the finished panel, and another Christmas card went into the pile for this year 🙂

Roses for Breast Cancer

Hi there 🙂 I’m here to share my inspiration project for this month’s challenge on the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group. Our theme this month is Think Pink for Breast Cancer. I wanted to implement the pink ribbon symbol somehow on my project, and amazingly, forgetful me, remembered the rose ribbon that I received as a freebie from Sarah Renae Clark a few years ago. I looked through the CCK Etsy Store, and although there were numerous images that had roses in them, I liked this one, from this set, because it would be easy to erase the background and merge it onto the ribbon. I colored everything with my Copics, adding some accents to the image frame and vines, with gold gel pen, then fussy cut it out.

I had a few ideas kicking around in my head as to what to make with this, but I kept going back to something that would make a nice way to present a gift to someone going through the cancer fight. I had this alterable container in my stash that reminded me of a gift bag, so went with that. Bonus with this piece is how the hole in the ribbon lines up with the handle so nicely!! I painted the bare wood green, then sponged gold over that. I attached a pale pink piece of ribbon around the centre, then glued on the image. For the back, I printed out an encouraging sentiment, die cut it and matted it before adhering it.

The only sad thing about this project is that someone will be fighting this dreadful disease when they get it as a “pick me up”.

Seasonal Scottie

Hey there 🙂 Another Christmas card to share….this time, using this adorable Scottie dog, from Whimsy Stamps. I always try to incorporate a Scottie on cards for my sister, as she has loved them for forever! I colored up this pup, from the Scottish Terrier set, with my Copics, then cut it out with a pretty shaped die.

I matted the image with gold mirror card stock, cut with a stitched edge die from the same set. This coordinates well with the flashes of gold in the plaid (what other pattern could I use?) background paper. I cut some trees out, that I “decorated with gold stickles, then placed them around the image. I die cut a number of stitched fishtail banners out, and layered them up, adding a die cut sentiment. A few gold baubles finish this special card off.

Tweet Tidings

Hi there 🙂 I have another Christmas card to share today. It features the amazing image, Chickadee in Barberry, from Power Poppy. Chickadees are a favorite bird in my family, and is my eldest’s nickname! I colored this image with my Copics, then die cut it out.

Since the die cut had spaces around the edge, it was perfect to weave some sheer red ribbon through, then tie a pretty bow to hang the sentiment tag from. This sentiment comes from the same digital set as the image. I added a vintage pearl button to the centre of the bow.

I adhered this to some pretty background paper, then added a few pearl accents to finish it off.

Relax

Hello 🙂 I’m sharing my DT inspiration card for our current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We have the super fun and generous Bugaboo Stamps sponsoring us this time! When I saw the image, Relaxing Guy, I knew it was perfect for a birthday card for one of the guys at work! I colored him up with my Copics, then stamped a sentiment.

I’d picked out the double sided DP that I wanted to use before coloring, so I could coordinate the colors. I cut the word “relax” out of one side of the DP, and again out of the same dark blue that I used for matting, so I could create a shadow effect. I layered everything up, and this rather simple masculine card is ready to give 🙂

Be A Mermaid

Hello there 🙂 I’m thrilled to be able to tell you that I was asked to be a guest designer at Digi Doodle Studios Challenge Blog, for their 31st challenge, Something Black and/or Purple.

I chose to work with Amatheia Mermaid, one of some really cute mermaids (and lots of other images and goodies), that can be found at the Digi Doodle Studios shop. I colored her up with my Copics, then cut the image out with an oval die.

I layered her up, over multiple layers of black, purple, and polka dot papers, with some netting tucked in between a few of them. I die cut some “lacy” seashells from black and black shimmer papers, and made some pale purple flowers to match up with the ones in the image. After arranging all of this, I printed a sentiment on my computer and added it to the card after cutting it with a rounded end die. The finishing touch was a bunch of black and iridescent “pearls”. I loved making this card up, and hope that you can join in Digi Doodle Studios Black and/or Purple challenge!!! Thanks again for asking me to guest design <3

Sunflower Bouquet

Hello there 🙂 Overnight, it started to feel like fall here! From 29°C yesterday to 12°C today!! I am not ready for winter, and I’d like fall much better if I didnt know what it was a precursor of! This card is fitting for the season, though. I used a beautiful image from Power Poppy, from a digital set called Bring Home Some Sunflowers. I colored the image with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I decided to make a CAS slimline card. I die cut a frame, and layered it over the card base that I’d printed the sentiment on (part of the same set as the image). I filled in the word Sunshine with one of the Copic colors that I’d used on the flowers. I placed the image over the frame, with some of it overhanging. The card needed just a bit more, so I added a few enamel dots as finishing touches. I’m undecided whether this will be an encouragement or get well card, or just a notecard, so I left the inside blank for the time being.

Back to the Books

Hi there 🙂 I’m here with my last inspiration card this month, for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this time around is Autumn/Fall and/or Fall/Autumn colors (that’s a lot of slash marks there, lol). I know that Fall is synonymous with Back to School for many people, and that’s the direction that I took with this card, using Lil Bookworm Fairy. I colored her up with my Copics, sticking with an autumnal color scheme.

After distressing and inking the edges of the image, I tore along the edges of an old book page, then inked it to give it an even more distressed look. I layered the image and book page on a warm red piece of cardstock, then added some flowers that were almost the same red and some die cut leaves. I finished off the card with a matted sentiment that I printed on my computer.

Glorious Geisha

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer at Arty Divas today. It’s a wonderful challenge ATG challenge blog with amazing inspiration from the design team. Thank you so much for inviting me to join you <3

I chose to use an image by Sheepski Designs, called Gorgeous Geisha, for my project. I picked my papers before I colored her up with my Copics, so I could match things up nicely.

I started layering the papers I’d picked out beforehand, and really wasn’t “feeling” the result, until I added the black border die cut and black mats. This really seemed to tie things together well. I die cut the asian inspired elements, the bird and the branch of blossoms with an assortment of different manufacturers dies, and arranged them on the card layers. To cut down on the starkness of the black border piece, I dabbed a paintbrush over a gold ink pad and lightly dusted it with the gold. Love the final result…and it’s flat, for easy mailing, which is an added bonus!!! Once again, I’d like to thank Arty Divas for asking me to guest design for them, and encourage you all to check out their fabulous blog!!

Hap-Bee Birthday

Hi there 🙂 I’ve been suffering a bit from Aurora Wings withdrawal lately, so took a gander at the store and found this little Honey Bee Sprite that surprisingly wasn’t in my collection yet! I colored him up with my Copics, adding some Wink of Stella to his wings and eyes, and some Glossy accents to the honey.

A octogon shaped card seemed perfect for this image, so I die cut a yellow card blank, then cut a grey piece slightly smaller. Before attaching the two, I cut 3 octogon windows, and framed them with black. I die cut a beehive piece, and layered it under the windows before gluing everything down. I stamped a sentiment, and cut it with a fishtail banner die. The bees buzzing around were stamped, then fussy cut out. I added a few flight trails with black fineliner, then popped the Sprite on the card with foam dots.
