Chilly Trio

Good morning 🙂 This card is pretty indicative of what it looks like outside here. We got snow, lots of snow (a foot!,) last weekend….in addition to some pretty brutal winds…a true prairie blizzard!! Although the city was pretty much at a standstill, we’re moving now 🙂

This is my card for the new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps this time, always a favorite with the DT 🙂 I used Winter Trio for my card, and colored it with Copics. I added the snow with my blender pen and a white Posca.

I found the striped background paper in my stash. I’m trying to use up some of my pieces of paper, rather than always cutting into full sheets, and this one paired up nicely with the image 🙂 I die cut the pretty snowflake border, and layered it over some red card stock for definition. I layered everything with a strip of green, and added a die cut and assembled bow. The sentiment is also die cut, then the letters inlaid with the same green as I’d used for the bow.

Shabby Thoughts

Hello there 🙂 I hope everyone is staying safe, and doing what they can to protect others, all while trying to remain sane!! I’m sure I’m not the only one that is SO done with the pandemic and all that it’s brought! Our challenge theme for this month at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group is “Remembrance/Thinking of You/Thanksgiving”. All of these take on new meaning in these uncertain times.

For my first DT inspiration this month, I used Peony Kimono Maiden, to make a shabby chic Thinking of You card. I used my Copics to color this beautiful image up, then stamped the sentiment and distressed and inked the edges.

I found a pretty piece of patterned paper in my stash, that went beautifully with the subdued colors of the image. I layered this up with some coordinating solid color cardstock, all of which I’d distressed and inked. I tucked in 2 doilies before attaching the image. A bow, tied with crinkle ribbon from DL Art, and some pearls finish my card off.

Sympathy Wreath

Hello there! Today, I’m sharing my (late) DT inspiration for the current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are being sponsored by the generous Jan’s Digi Stamps, who kindly provided the DT images to work with. I chose the Fall Cotton Wreath with the sympathy sentiment (there’s a number of sentiments in the set, to make this a super versatile set!) I colored this up with my Copics, and admittedly struggled a bit, as I printed it up smaller than was smart!

I cut the image out with a die with a pretty edge, then rummaged through my paper stash, trying to decide on what to do!! Since I like to keep my sympathy cards quite simple, all the printed papers that I tried were just too fussy for what i wanted. I decided on a plain brown cardstock, with some pops of blue to match the bow in the image. I did a little angular cut out to add a bit of interest without complicating the card design. Some square gems gave the project a bit of understated sparkle.

Halloween Dusk

Hi there! Well, Halloween is less than a week away now….time keeps flying!! This is my last inspiration project for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme this month is Halloween/Pumpkins/Halloween Colors. I finally got around to doing a Halloween project for inspiration lol. I used Exotic Night for my card and colored her up with my Copics.

I stuck with a Halloween color scheme, and used some orange paper that I stenciled with bats. The bottom part of the card is a brick wall die cut, layered over gray paper. This reflected the wall in the image. I layered everything up, tucking some branch die cuts behind the image, and adding a strip with a printed sentiment.

Hello Baby!!

Hello 🙂 I noticed that I’m getting pretty low on baby cards, so it was the perfect time to play with this adorable Giraffe and Bird, from Rachelle Anne Miller. I decided to do a girly card, and break out the pink….it IS the month for it, after all! I colored the image in various shades, to really pack a punch of pink!

I used a slimline die to cut the basic shape of the card, then die cut a window into it. I made a card base from some pink card stock that went with the image colors, and attached the cut out. I die cut a sentiment, and attached it in the window, after coloring the ‘baby’ a light pink. A few clouds, also edged in pink, finish this CAS slimline card off.

Amethyst Lily

Hello there 🙂 It was my bestie’s birthday the other day. Her favorite color is purple, and fave flower is a lily. In fact, her blog and Etsy shop take from these 2 favorites, and are called Amethyst Lily Designs 🙂 So…..I thought it would be a good bet that she’d like a birthday card implementing this 🙂 I used one of the gorgeous images from Power Poppy’s Alluring Lily digital stamp set. I colored it with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I wanted to keep this beautiful bloom the focal point of the card, so I stuck with a CAS design. I stamped and heat embossed a design from Technique Tuesday, with clear ink and powder, on the background, to give a bit of subtle elegance. The narrow mat and die cut sentiment are a black shimmer card stock. A few white sequins embellish the card, without detracting from the overall design.

Pumpkin Patch

Hi there:) Well, we got a few flurries of snow last night, nothing to last, but I guess it really IS fall! It’s time to share my second DT inspiration card for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme this month is Halloween Colors/Pumpkins/Halloween. I did the colors last week, so this week it’s time to feature pumpkins 🙂 I used a gorgeous image from the Hello Autumn set. I colored it up with my Copics, then set it aside, while I worked on the rest of the card.

I decided to go with a side stepper card. I didn’t have any plain pumpkin dies, but I have stamps!! I stamped a number of them, embossed them, then colored them to match the pumpkins in the image. I die cut 2 lacy frames and inked them lightly with gold. I used the larger one for a frame for the image, and the other as a base for the stamped and embossed sentiment. After attaching these to the base, I fussy cut the pumpkins and arranged them to make a pumpkin patch.

The Smell of Death

Hello 🙂 We’re about 2/3 of the way through the October ATG (old or new, full projects, or just coloring) challenge at the Aurora Wings Facebook group. We love to see your Aurora Wings creations and coloring, so please pop by and share!! For my inspiration this month, I wanted to do something a bit creepy/spooky, so chose one of Mitzi’s images that isn’t used a whole lot. Corpse Flower Sprite fit the bill perfectly!! I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I die cut a tag, then blended Distress Inks that coordinated with the image. A few spritzed of water provided a bit more oomph. I looked through my *extensive* stash for some flies….but it was a no go 🙁 So….I drew some to hover around the image 🙂 I embossed the wings, to give them a more realistic look. For the “fumes” that this flower emits, I first embossed some squiggles with glow in the dark embossing powder, then added some definition with a black fine liner.

Glow in the dark smellies!!

Initially, I hand lettered the sentiment. I really shouldn’t do that!! It was awful! So I carefully removed the Sprite, and redid the tag! I printed the sentiment on some clear adhesive paper, and attached it to the (new) tag. Much, MUCH better!!! Some purple and black crinkle ribbon from DL Art completed this project 🙂

Christmas Wreath

Hello there 🙂 Time seems to be flying by this year….and considering what 2020 has brought to the world, that might be a good thing!! With Christmas fast approaching, I definitely have to keep at it with my Christmas cards! I love seeing all the different styles of wreaths as the season approaches. The old fashioned, traditional me was immediately drawn to this Cheery Christmas wreath, from Gracielle Designs. I merged one of the sentiments from the set into the middle of the wreath, and printed it off card size. I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. Such a simple design, but oh so striking!

Birthday Bear

Hi there! Today, I have a card to share that’s in my favorite color combo, and features an adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios 🙂 I made it for my “adopted” daughter, who has been my Kiddo Bear for about 13 years <3 She loves pandas, so when I saw these Panda Love Pairables, I had to get them! I colored one of the sweet bears up with my Copics, then fussy cut him out.

I choose some patterned papers that coordinated, then got to die cutting! First, I cut out the base, then used some 2″ letter dies to cut the word “happy”. I cut a contrasting red set, to use as a shadow. I printed the image on my computer, then cut it with a banner. I used the red for another banner cut. I love how the red really makes everything pop 🙂 A few dots with dimensional paint in the corners finish this card off.
